Sorry for the lack of reporting. The web site has been getting fine tuned to make it easier for you to look at and use and easier for me to maintain. Any day now, the navigation buttons will change because of us adding our "B" Street Lodging to the site. Please let me know how to make things easier for you to look at and use the site.
First of all, we have had enormous amounts of rain in the area and the lake is rising RAPIDLY! We had 8.5 inches here in less than 24 hours and some place up the Red River had 12 plus! The lake has risen 6 feet since Wednesday and is supposed to rise another 6 feet. There are places that are no longer accessible on the lake and many more will become that way before it crest. This will not stop us from fishing and will actually make fishing really good. You may be in my boat when I launch in order to get on the water. Many marina walkways will be under water very soon! Don't worry......fishing is on.
The fish are starting to come off the spawn and they are hungry. I have only bait fished because of customer wishes or too many people on the boat to throw lures.
I had David Wilson from Tuscola, TX and his brother Duane from Okmulgee, OK on Wed. We were fishing in 2 to 3 foot waves while on anchor and the storm clouds brewing. We caught our limit of some pretty nice fish and headed for the dock as the storm was coming in. Instead of cleaning on the dock we loaded my boat and came to my house to clean fish and avoid the rain, lightning and hail. This was the first time I had to bring customers home to clean fish.
You can see in the photos that the pictures were taken in my garage and we cleaned fish on the tailgate of my truck. We kept dry and away from lightning on the water. All fish were on bait in 35 feet of water on a ledge dropping off to 50 feet.
Fished in the same location on Friday and had our limit in less than an hour but the water level was at 40 feet on that ledge now because of the flood. We headed over around the North Island and drifted bait in 28 feet and played catch and release for 3 hours without hurting any fish.
Today we went back to the same drop to fish 3 boats of guys from a Baptist church group from Choctaw, OK. Didn't take long to get it done today either. We did get a little rain on us before we finished but nothing heavy. The heavy rain came a couple of hours later but is dying down now. We needed the rain to get the lake up but we can use a lag now while they let water out of here.
Will be topwater fishing on Monday and I can't wait to get up in the trees to make it happen!

Fishing was good if you got out early this morning. Fishing from 32' to 42' of water with bait. Didn't get to throw any lures today and that was too bad. The South wind has the bait and the fish blown up onto the rocky banks and it is topwater time for them! Just getting started good right now. We hung bait over the sides and fished from 3 cranks off the bottom all the way up to 20'. Caught some nice overs and good box fish. It slowed up about 9 AM and then it was slow pickins the rest of the morning. They just didn't fire up today like they had been. It will just keep getting better. If you are wanting to start catching some topwater fish with a few folks on the boat....it is time to give me a call.

I was afraid that the blue skies and light winds would make fishing tough today. Wrong again! We were fishing in 42 feet of water and catching our fish at 30 feet. Bait only today. Our biggest problem was catching enough small fish to fill the box. Had to throw back our biggest fish because our overs were already in the box. Every boat around us was catching very quickly today. Gotta love it!

Fishing is getting better every day. Some fish are finished spawning and getting real hungry. Bait and lures are both working. On most days you can catch in 5' of water as well as 60' of water. Using shad on bait days and wildeyes on lures. Haven't had to go more than a mile and a half out of the marina to get them. Just going to get better!

Windy conditions forced cancellation of Thursday's trip and it wasn't much better on Friday so my customers decided to reschedule. Made it out Saturday and it was a slow day but produced some nice fish. We drifted bait in water from 14 feet all the way down to 30 feet. The fish got lock jawed and it took some time to get a decent box. Finished on a 45 foot ledge anchored up and got the fish to bite a little better. Bait is still really hard to get and the spawn is up and down for bait fishing. Still getting it done but I am looking forward to warmer weather and easier bait!

Our trip on April 6th was a good one. Had a group of 5 people so it was going to be bait only and the wind was pretty strong, as well. Found feeding fish very quickly on a 45 foot ledge near Soldier Creek. Dropped an anchor and put bait down to 24 feet and it was game on! Caught 39 fish very quickly and then the bite slowed way down. Dropped the bait down on top of the fish that were at 34 feet now and finished up with 50 striper and 2 sandbass. Good but cold day of fishing.

Fishing has been a little tricky as of late. The water temps have risen and the spawn is starting to happen. Fish are moving to shallower areas and not feeding on a regular basis at all. We are still catching and getting some nice quality fish. The winds have been the main problem for us! I have had to cancel or move several trips because of it. Been catching fish with bait in water from 20' to 45' deep. They should be hitting the REAL shallow water any day for some good lure fishing. The photo page shows the latest trips and results.

I am very tired and glad Spring Break is over. I enjoyed fishing everybody but fishing 9 out of 10 days will take a toll on anybody!
3/18 I fished Randy Chesser and his kids from Snyder, TX & Lexington, OK. It became very tough fishing for all of us as we are nearing the spawn. We fished in many areas from the central part of the lake to near Big Mineral arm. Caught some fish in water as deep as 55' and up to 21' drifting shad.
3/19 I fished the Dougherty family from Elkhart, KS. I had fished the Dad/Grandad of the family a few times this Winter with great success, but this is not then. We struggled the same today as yesterday and fished the same way. We did have a good time and boxed some fish for them to take home. They fished the next day, as well, with another guide I had lined up for them since I already had a trip booked. They did quite a bit better the next day as we all did but still not a banner day. We are still fishing the same with our shad.
3/20 I fished Paul Healzer and his son from Ness City, Ks with the same results of struggling to get them to bite. Finding the fish is not the problem, they are just not feeding very well. We managed some nice fish for them but it was another tough one. This is really getting old. Fishing same areas with same results. Covering a lot of water.
3/21 The story was no different today! Fished the Stanislaus family from Austin, TX. They brought their 2 sons of 3 & 5 years of age. This was a really great family to fish, as well. We managed their expectations and the kids did great in that small area of a boat for almost 5 hours before calling it a day.
3/22 We finally found fish that wanted to bite! HOORAY! Weather was different with a front coming in and they were biting all over the lake. Problem was that the wind started coming up very quickly. I fished the Lines family from Enid, OK, Flower Mound, TX and their friends the Stewarts from Flower Mound, as well. We got on fish right off and started to catch in 50' of water with the fish coming through at 30'. They wanted to fish just a few hours and we were at the mercy of the wind for moving around so we just stuck to the one anchor. They manged to take home quite a good number of fillets and it was great to have a good day of fishing finally. Some needed recovery time is now in order before my next trip on 3/27.

I have been very busy fishing so reports will come as I get time. 3/13 was a great day of fishing! We got on fish and stayed on them the entire trip. We caught a lot of fish in the middle of the lake in 65' of water. It was a bit windy with a light mist that made it good fishing. We used wildeyes and sassy shad on them this day. 3/14 was an entirely different day! We had almost the same conditions but it had rained more during the night. We could not get lures to work for us and put bait down in the same areas. We moved around a lot to try and locate feeding fish and just couldn't find real good schools. We struggled the entire time but did boat some fish to take home. 3/15 acted like it was going to be another tough day. Around 11 AM we were in the middle at 65' again when they went off on our bait. We boxed around 35 fish in a short period of time. I was really sweating it because 2 days of getting beat up is no fun! 3/16 was another tought day. We were bait fishing only because of 2 young guys on the boat. We started slow and it picked up a bit around 8:30. We put several fish in the boat and then around 10:30 they shut off. We had trouble getting them to hit us anywhere we looked. A tough day but we managed to get some nice fish. I fish the next 6 days in a row to finish up Spring break and I will post reports when possible.

The fish have been biting well at Eisenhower area so headed straight there for the trip. Had a full moon with no clouds that night. The fish were not working well at all in that area as they had been for the last 2 weeks. We only pulled 3 fish from that area when it had been all you could handle. Headed back to the Caney Creek area and the birds were working. Started catching fish immediately on wildeyes! It only lasted about 20 minutes before it slowed up. I should have started there but the lake can change in just 1 day. The winds got up to 25 mph. We dropped an anchor and put bait down. We wound up with 39 fish. The weather has changed back to Winter type conditions and we will see how it changes over the next few days.
