10/16 We had a change in the weather. The South winds were gone and the North wind started with chillier temps and no clouds. Went looking for fish because I knew they would move with the weather change. Tried some topwaters with a little luck and cocahoes with a little more luck but bait was the ticket. We drifted in water from 24 feet up to 6 feet of water. The shallower we got the better the fish. Still catching a lot of small ones but the bite is picking up.

10/17 We still had bluebird skies and North winds. Hit the shallow banks at sunrise with lures. We only managed 1 or tow on topwaters and then a few more on cocahoes before the birds went crazy out in the 17 to 28 foot water. Game on! Still smaller fish but a lot of fun catching and releasing while getting the box full.

10/18 I got to fish a family with a couple of younger fellas so it was no trying lures. We had 3 boats looking for fish. We all started in different areas while looking for them. We started under the birds in 18 feet of water and started instantly catching. There were too many boats showing up and it turned the fish off rather quickly. We ran to another boat on the river ledge in 30 feet of water and almost couldn't keep bait down most of the time. We were still catching the smaller guys but had 2 really nice fish come in the boat. The big boys can't be more than 2 or 3 weeks out!

Saturday, Oct 10th, I fished for another guide that had a 3 boat trip. It was pretty windy out and I was hoping the fish would be on the banks in the area we were fishing at. They weren't! We dropped bait down after an hour of looking for topwaters. We drifted in the wind in 24 feet to 8 feet of water to catch our fish. It wasn't fast and furious but we did get a boat limit before we headed in.

Sunday, October 11th. Had heavy mist and white caps when we started. Headed toward the windblown banks to try the shallow fish. We got numerous hits and only 1 hookup that we lost at the boat. The gulls started banging the water out in the middle and we headed for them. I let the guys know that if we dropped down bait it would be "game on"! We got out in front of the birds and dropped bait. Didn't take all that long to catch 30 fish in those conditions. We drifted the same water as the day before. Our largest fish was the last one caught that went about 26". Good fishing in big winds.

Monday, October 12th. Started marking fish when I got close to the area we had been fishing and it was just barely daylight. It had misted on the way out and quit about the time we got on the fish. I had 2 adult and 3 kids so it was a bait trip only. We had a limit of 50 fish by 9:45. The 5 year old was hooking up just as much as the older members of the crew. It was a lot of fun and we left the fish biting even after letting several fish go back to catch another day. It just keeps getting better! Better get you're Fall trip booked now!

Sunday fishing was windy, wet & wild. Rained almost all day with waves up to 3 feet. Was hoping for some topwater action but the wind just wouldn't let us try where we were fishing. Dropped down bait and caught 2 nice fish pretty quick but they wouldn't keep biting. We moved around to different areas fishing mostly 12 to 17 feet of water on a "fast" drift. Did well with the bait on that for a while and they shut off. We moved over into Rock Creek and found some fish and finished them off in there pretty quick. Bait fishing was good but never took a shot at lures. Feeding fish are turning on!

Fishing is picking up again! Water temps have cooled and the fish are starting to feed. Still catching a lot of smaller fish but getting a mix of over 20 inchers. I am starting to clean fish that have been eating, which is a great sign! It should only get better with every day now. Cloudy & rainy weather is due in tomorrow and I am looking forward to the change that should bring. I haven't had any trips on days when the fish have been feeding shallow on lures but that should be different tomorrow! It's time for you to book a trip right now for the fall fishing. All of my October weekends are taken but I do have some weekdays open. Give me a call because the Fall fishing is on!

Haven't posted since my last trips and I had better get it done. We have had some rainy weather over tha past week and a half. On days when it was raining the topwater fishing has been very good. Fishing in water 1 to 3 feet deep for them. On days where the sun has been shining the topwater is over very quick and we have gone to bait. Fish are biting well. Larger fish on topwater and smaller fish on bait. Fishing in many different areas and having a good time doing it!

Feels like forever since I posted a report. I haven't had many customers this month and haven't fished all that many times. Fishing has definitely picked up and if you are at the right place you can get some good ones going on topwater and bait. Larger fish are being caught in VERY shallow water on chugbugs better than about anything. Bait is doing well and the small bait are getting the small fish while the big bait is getting the bigger fish. Lake should be turning over any time. Getting some very needed rains to help cool the lake down along with cooler temperatures and shorter days. Things are just going to get better from here on out!

Fished on the 25th, 26th, 27th & 28th. Only had topwater fish on the 27th and it lasted about 15 seconds! Caught one fish out of that and it was a whopping 6 incher. We are able to catch fish on slabs and bait by drifting in 23 to about 33 feet of water. I covered a lot of area on the lake looking for bigger fish but I haven't been able to find them. I hear reports of scattered nice fish but you are just lucky when you get on them. I need to get a little luck for you guys because I am tired of smaller fish but at least we are catching. The smaller fish taste better, anyway. Temps are cooling a little bit and you can smell the foulness of the water near the dam so it won't be long before the lake turns over and fishing gets back to what we all like.

Fishing hasn't changed much. We are waiting for the fish to come up each morning and hitting them with topwater chugbugs. Almost all of the fish are 14 inches or less in length, with an occasional nice one. Largest fish caught since my last report was 22 inches. We are still catching some fish with cocahoes under the topwater fish but somedays it isn't as good as others. Heard of some good bait fishing on a different part of the lake today, so it may be time to put the bait tank back in the boat and give it a try. Come join me for some fun!

Fishing has picked up some in the last two trips. It still isn't easy and having to box small fish. Catching quite a few that have to go back because they are just too small, but it has been fun catching them.

The 8th & 9th were pretty tough all the way around because the fish didn't stay up very long and it was hard to find schools big enough to want the slabs. The 10th & 11th were better as far as catching more numbers. Fish are staying up longer and coming up in many areas at different times of the day.

Fish are really blowing up over the deep water and moving into the shallows in most cases, but we have had fish starting out in 11 feet of water sometimes and moving to the bank. Kind of crazy, but at least they are doing something. Like I said, it still isn't easy catching good size fish but we are having a lot of fun catching right now.

Plenty of fish out there today after yesterday's storms! Thank goodness I still have a boat slip because 4 of them are gone just before you get to mine. 3 were spared and mine was one of them.

Fish were small everywhere we went today. You could catch all you wanted on topwater, but they just didn't have any size to them. We slabbed all morning and pulled some box fish and the only one that was real large was not netted well by me and we lost him. Somebody come help me find those big fish!
