Well, if you read my reports you will remember that I have had some foot problems. It finally needed some medical attention on Thursday. Had to do a little cutting on it so it would drain. I had to send my customers to another guide that was open and able to take them out and catch fish with them.
I can now get a shoe on with part of it cut away and my foot wrapped to keep it dry. This afternoon was my first time out. Fish are on top and letting you see where the schools are out. I was slabbing fish in 60 feet of water and catching them between 20 and 30 feet. Also dragging umbrellas through them when they thin out to get fish in the cooler. Glad to be back out on the water and catching fish.
I have trips on Monday and Tuesday and will let you know what we did. Topwater action is going, but I have too many customers on the boat for casting, so we will be using slabs and umbrellas. Bait tank is close for now! (thank goodness!)

It is HOT out there! Bait has not been any easier to get. 6/30 the skies were bluebird and almost zero wind. Could not be much worse for fishing. Started slow and stayed slow. Got some fish on bait and some on slabs. Most fish were caught in deep water up to 75 feet catching at 35 feet. Did catch a couple on the Washita flats going in at 24' but they didn't really want to bit their either. Tough day!
7/1 we at least had a little chop on the water. It looked like it was going to be really good for slabbing but the down-rigging boats were on the fish heavy and kept them scattered. We need good groups to slab on and they just couldn't stay grouped up. This was all in deep water of 70 to 80 feet just burning the slabs up as fast as we could reel. Hopefully I won't need much bait any day. We went over to the Washita flats and drifted some shad in 24' of water on the way in. Caught a couple of nice fish there and missed several pull downs. Better day than the day before so I am keeping my fingers crossed.
Just had a date open for July 11th from people moving their trip date, so give me a call if you are looking for a last minute booking.

The heat has been on! Not your best striper conditions with bluebird skies with little or no wind and 100 degree temps. The slab fishing has not turned on great yet so we have been drowning bait, which still takes about 3 hours of net throwing to get.
I have been fishing mostly up near Eisenhower Marina early in the morning to get the most fish before it gets slow. We can mark fish all over the lake during the day but getting them to bite has been another story. Catching some double digit fish and having to throw back overs. Catching box fish under 20" has been difficult. We may wind up with a big box but limits have been near impossible.
Hear today that they hit slabs very well in an area I will try tomorrow and see if it is steady. Hoping for the fish to get in a normal pattern so things will be easier. Bookings are slowing down because of the Summer heat so maybe I can post more often on my results.

I can just bundle the trips starting on 6/16 through 6/21 under one place.
Bait has been real tough to come by and not getting any easier. I have a plan to change that on Tuesday.....we will see how that goes.
We have been fishing mostly on the East side of the lake. We have been catching fish on bait from 70 feet of water all the way to 12 feet. We anchor in the deeper water and drift in the shallow.
Fish are not on any good pattern right now and making it tough on me. I am hoping that the flood hasn't messed up the patter for months to come because we should be getting topwater action and slab fish but it just isn't happening yet.
I will hang in there and hope for the best. Start a four day run in the morning and I will report as I can.

6/14 Fished with family today. Didn't want to get up and throw for shad for 3 hours. Went out just before daylight in hopes they would come back into the bank this morning for the spawn. Very cloudy and sprinkles so it didn't happen. The wife went after bait and we used black salties. Went out about a 1/4 mile from where we fished yesterday in 70 feet of water. Caught most of our fish from the 50 to 60 foot level but sometimes as deep as 65 feet. Nice overs in the box and some nice box fish. Didn't fish for real long so it wouldn't seem too much like I was at work. Not out again until Tuesday and I have a bad foot I need to nurse before then. I only have Tuesday, June 30th left open this month so if you are wanting a June trip, give me a call.

6/13 started out pretty good. Bait was tough to get and I only had 51 shad until daylight when they hit the shallows to spawn. Caught another 100 with one throw. We needed more win but we got them going off and on. We were in 66 feet of water out East of Table Top and catching them in the 40 to 50 foot range. We moved when it shut down and just never got them going again before the wind shut off and it got hot. Decided to call it a day with a nice box of fish.

6/11 was set to be a tricky one with storms moving through overnight and sitting right under the front. Set anchor in light SW breeze. Marking fish and catching a few. Anchored in 66 feet of water and catching at 40 feet with bait. Wind starts switching to the NW and blows just right for a few minutes and the water goes calm. We left there and went to let the breeze drift where I had on Tuesday. Caught a few there but it was slow. Got a call on some fish that were working. Headed out to water close to home at 60 feet deep. We caught fish in water from 40 to 50 feet deep. Fish have been starting slow and finishing fast. We had a great ending with a triple. Good fishing today with a slow start. Dr. on Friday so not back out until Saturday.

6/9 started with very little wind. We tried topwater along the rocks near Highport for a good distance and got no takers. The high water has sure slowed things down because of the flood gates being wide open. Gates are shut now and hopefully the fish will start doing what they should be this time of year in a few days. We headed out to my favorite ledge, as of late. We were marking fish like crazy and could not get them to bite. The South breeze started to pick up and I was hoping it would turn the fish on. NOPE! We left there and headed to deeper water North of the Islands. Started catching but it was slow. Wind is getting so strong that everybody is having trouble just staying on anchor. We headed up to shallower water on a call I got from another guide and drifted in water from 14 to 30 feet deep. Finished up our box there with some nice fish. Tough day to get them and the wind didn't help at all. We got all our fish and these two did a great job in the conditions. Thanks.

June 7th we planned to fish on another part of the lake with 2 groups I had. Been catching some nice fish in a spot so we wanted to hit it. After catching bait (hard to do) I came out of the creek and the waves were 3 and 4 feet high on the main lake. No way to safely boat to another location. I loaded on the trailer and headed to Big Mineral to launch and pick up customers there. Still windy but manageable. Big winds and muddy waters made for a tough day. We caught fish in water as shallow as 11 feet all the way to 66 feet deep. Not an easy day to be a guide but still caught a good amount of fish. I am off today to get things like this done along with lawn mowing, etc. Hoping topwater will start soon because it is running late. Slabbing should be here, as well. The flood has messed things up a little but it will line itself back out. I only have one day left open in June to take somebody fishing. If you want to go out on June 30th..........give me a call.

Went out to the ledge where good fish had been hitting me off of the river channel. Got up on the ledge and would swing from 51 feet to 67 feet of water. Big fish were coming through and we caught 28 fish there in a pretty decent period of time. 14 of them were overs. Fishing got really tough after these slowed down. We had guys fishing all over this part of the lake. We could find plenty of fish to sit on but they just quit biting. It was pretty windy and tough to get the anchor set. Good fishing early and then went to pot after that. Tough one.
