I had a 3 boat trip out on 11/15/08. What a day! The wind forecast was off and we dealt with 2 to 3 foot waves all day. It was cold and wet from the waves getting us. We caught fish on the flats once again up near the Big Mineral area of the lake. Some working birds have small fish under them and some have nice fish. You just have to move around and see where they are, as usual. Great bunch of guys out fishing with us and it was fun despite the weather conditions.

Fished on Nov. 11th & 12th. Two totally different trips! Fished out of Big Mineral on the TX side on Tuesday. Nice cloudy weather with a good chop on the water. Came out of Big Min and fished the flats between there and Mill Creek. Fish were everywhere and we could have limited out in 45 minutes! We threw fish back so we could catch and release for a couple of hours. We were using bait and slabs. Both worked but bait was a little better. Drifted our bait about 3 cranks off the bottom. Nice box fish and only a couple of nice overs up to around 6 pounds.
Wednesday I fished out of Soldier Creek. Wind had switched to the North and it started out partly cloudy and turned into bluebird skies. Birds were working everywhere from Washita flats to the islands. Around Washita we could hardly catch anything but small striper and only boxed a few worth keeping. Caught a few nice sandbass along with them. Moved down behind the islands and our first 2 rods down caught 2 real nice overs! We fished that area the rest of the trip catching many small stripers and then some more nice overs up to 6 pounds. Hard to fill the box because the fish were either to big or to small. I just wasn't finding the box fish. Good day of fun fishing. Out again on Saturday if the wind forecast doesn't hold up. Winds are supposed to blow strong on Fri. and Sat.

Saturday was much different than Friday was. The morning bite was slow and the fish were not organized like they were the day before. Started in the same area in front of the islands and worked all the way to Washita Point. Came back behind the islands and got into some nice 18 and 19 inch box fish. We worked our way back over into Big Mineral and found some more nice fish in that area. Not a slam dunk day, but we caught fish and had a lot of fun doing it.

Today (11/7/08) was like a real Fall day of fishing. Got started around 7 AM and the bite was steady. We started in front of the North Island on anchor. Started catching very shortly thereafter. When the birds got active we started drifting where the fish were moving to. Drifted in 34 to 42 feet of water in this area. We moved over by Washita Point in 32 foot water and anchored up again because the wind was picking up. We finished our limit there. 2" to 3" shad is what they wanted today from me. We were 1 to 3 cranks off the bottom while drifting and 3 to 4 cranks off the bottom on anchor. Caught about 6 overs out of our 40 fish. We did a little slabbing behind the islands when we finished our limit and tossed them back for another day. Real nice day on the lake!

Was out fishing Friday through Sunday. Fish are still in the same areas they have been. Friday was just the wife and myself filling the freezer back up. We bait fished and slabbed in pretty stiff winds. Everything we caught was on Table Top. Saturday the wind was pretty much non-existent and made things take longer. We came out of Big Mineral and fished our way back from Table Top. We found some shallow fish on our way back and caught fish in 14 feet of water with bait. No wind and blue skies made it a tougher day. Sunday the wind was just perfect until about 10:00. If you didn't have them by then it was a bit of a struggle. I had 2 adults and 3 kids, so we struggled. We did catch fish and had a lot of fun. Keeping young kids in a boat for over six hours is tough on them. Their Mom & Dad are doing a great job because these kids acted very well the entire time.....even when boredom set in. Fishing is still good, so get a trip booked while the Fall bite is on!

Fishing has picked up with the cool weather. Things have been pretty fast and furious most days. We are still fishing the ledges on the river channels in anything from 38 to 32 feet for me. Drifting is also working when it is not too windy all the way up to 7 feet of water. Have only been bait fishing, but looks like it is almost time to chunk some lures. The seagulls are showing up in greater numbers and things should keep getting better with the cool down. Don't miss this Fall bite!

Sunday was much different than Saturday. The wind had switched and so did my fishing spots. We went to where the Saturday fish were at and they weren't interested. Did some searching and got on a few feeders but we had to move around a lot to find our fish. The bite was much slower but we managed to catch a good mess of them. Most of our fish were caught in near 40 feet of water today just 3 cranks off the bottom.

Today was a slam dunk! My Brother Miles and Newphew Ethan came up from TX with a few friends of theirs. They ran about a half hour late getting here and it had me worried about the bite. NO WORRIES! We headed over to some flats in 33 feet of water just off the river channel and the screen was lit up. We dropped the anchor and it was about 45 minutes before we could get all of the rods in the water. We boxed 49 fish in the first hour! We finally got a little break for a breather after that, but it didn't take long to get our next 11 and added in one kitty cat for good measure. It was great to fish with family and meet some of his friends. These guys knew how to fish and helped net fish and bait rods so we could try and keep bait under the boat. We never could have done this good without the whole boat chipping in. Instead of taking a village when striper fishing it"takes a boat". Thanks guys!

Today started out slow because of hardly any wind, clear skies and a big beaming moon. Had James and Vickie Mears with me on their first trip to Texoma and striper fishing. They were headed home from Arkansas to Sanford, TX. Great folks to fish with and they do know how to fish. We finally got them going off the river channel in about 33 feet of water and it was game on! When it was over there we moved around near the islands and drifted up in water as shallow as 7 feet to finish our catch. Was a lot slower than anybody likes it for part of the day but it was beautiful on the lake and we did get our fish. Out again tomorrow and hope it is a little faster paced. Thanks, James and Vickie.

Report from 9th through 12th. I was too tired to report on a daily basis so I will lump them together. The trips were all almost identical except for starting places. 2 of the trips started behind the islands. We would catch a few fish early very quickly drifting in about 21 feet of water. As soon as it slowed up we would move East to the middle of the lake. The next 2 trips started in the middle of the lake. We anchored up on flats off the river channel ranging from 38 feet to 30 feet. Fish would come through off and on with bait just up off the bottom and really hit us hard. When that shut off we would move back to some shallower water and drift bait. This produced mostly 20 plus inch fish while it lasted. We drifted all the way up into 14 feet of water. October fishing is really starting to turn on!

This report is for October 2,3,4 &5. Real busy fishing and getting ready for the next day has kept me from posting here on a regular basis. October fishing is shaping up. We have done real well. I fished Frank Sumner with family and friends on Friday. Weather was good for striper when we started. Even had a few sprinkles. The wind got cranking about 20 mph after we had a good load of fish and Frank called the trip and not a bad call. We had people on the boats of 80 plus years of age. A group of 12 nice people that took home a good load of fish. Saturday I fished with a group of 11 with another guide that needed more boats. Got very windy real early, but we all got our limits and blew off the lake to clean fish. Today I had Corey Holmes and Carrie Pemberton who were celebrating Carrie's birthday. What a gift to a birthday girl that hasn't fished much. It was both of their first time on Texoma. We tried some topwater early right here by Soldier with no luck and decided to go bait fishing before the forecasted winds got up. We really got them good and had 5 fish on at one time. These 2 got all five in the boat and dropped slabs down and pulled another one. 6 fish within 2 minutes and it was game on. Carrie did as she should. She out-fished her boyfriend even though he gave her the gift! These 2 were a hoot to fish with and really got after the fishing. We got done way early and took a little tour, but the 3 footers came in and we headed in. FISHING IS GOOD!

Full sunshine and no wind made it tough out there today. Had nice overs in the box today and more catfish than I would have bet on. Bait was the trick today because they didn't like my topwater early and the fish didn't gather up good for slabbing. Had a good time getting what we did and out again tomorrow hoping for a bit more wind.

Fishing was very good today if you were out early, but it didn't last long. Fish were behind the islands in 25' and shallower. Caught 5 out of 6 overs very quickly. Around 8:30 things really slowed up. You could still catch a lot of micro-stripers on slabs after that but the sand bass were really nice. Topwater bite just wasn't there for us. Bait and slabs were the ticket. It was a good day for late Sept. Things should settle down in the next week and stay good. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Friday the fishing was very slow but we caught good quality fish in shallow water. It took the entire morning to get it done. The fish ranged up to just over 7 pounds and we even pulled in a 12 pound blue cat. The water was like glass and bluebird skies. Lucky we got it done. Saturday was the same type day but the fishing was not as good. Nobody around us got a limit of fish and the weather was the same. Fish were just not feeding and it was really tough to get them going. My guess is the lake is just about to turn over and the fish are not on a pattern. I didn't have a trip on Sunday and know of several guides that pulled the plug after a few hours and are bringing their customers back to fish on another day. Come on October!

Fishing was not as easy today as yesterday. Went with no bait again and started working topwater. The birds were not as active in some areas today as yesterday so it was a little tougher to get on fish. Catching sandbass was much easier for me than striper today. If we would have been bait fishing things could have been easier, but we had a good time and cleaned a mess of fish! Out tomorrow with bait for the crew that is fishing.

Fishing today was good. Started at daybreak with topwater fishing. First fish was a nice 24" striper. Sandbass were on top in large amounts and easy to catch. Started dropping slabs on the schools to produce more stripers because the fish on top, as always, weren't as big as the fish below them. We'll be back out again tomorrow and will report on how we do.
Sat, Aug 23rd 2008, 11:57
Glad it was just the wife and myself out today. Worst day on the water I have seen in months! Nobody was catching and many guides left without a fish. Weather turned back to summer and the fish were napping somewhere. Hope they feed tomorrow.

Fish seem to be starting later each day. Didn't start looking until 8:00 yesterday and it really wasn't going strong until 9:00. Still small schoolies on top most of the time with the larger fish under them. All of these fish were in my area of the lake. We got some nice sandies on top water and the larger stripers were beneath the schools. We got them on slabs. Didn't use bait at all and still had nice box of fish.
Mon, Aug 18th 2008, 13:00
Fishing close to Soldier Creek area has been good to me the last few days. The bite is starting a little later in the morning and get's better as it goes. One day the fish will stack up and let you slab them like crazy and one day it is easier to use bait. The topwater fish have mostly been small schoolies and the bigger fish are under them, but once in a while a school will show up with larger fish on top. The weather has been cooperating very well for striper fishing this weekend. I'll keep reporting as time allows and call me if you are coming down and want some tips.

Had a good day of fishing today. Fished with Jim Andrews, his grandson James from near Cleavland, OH and their friend Ronnie. Jim and Ronnie are from the OKC metro. Bite was good on topwater when we got on them around 7:15. Lasted about an hour and then slowed up for a while. Fish got active again and we went to work on them with slabs. James had the 2 largest fish of the day that came in around the 4 pound area. He has now become a slabbing expert and can go back to Ohio and tell his buddies how to fish for striper on Lake Texoma. Except for a couple of fish pulled on a shallow drift, all of these fish were caught from 36' to 63' of water. Great day!

Fished with the Max Friedauer family out of the Dallas metroplex today. Max had his wife, 3 year old daughter and 6 year old son. WHAT TROOPERS! We weren't out very long when the very heavy mist hit us along with a pretty good North breeze. Looked like fishing was going to be good, but was not to be. We struggled for every one we boxed, but it was fun to see the kids bring in some stripers. Tough day of fishing for most everybody around us. Heard it was good on another part of the lake but that is not where we were. Great family and kids with a tough day on Texoma.

August 9th and 10th were night and day different! Saturday the slab fishing was excellent in the deep water just outside Soldier Creek and towards the South. We were able to stay with the fish for quite a while. Fish were stacked and ready to eat. Sunday wasn't as kind! The wind was up and we were dealing with 3 foot waves when we first got out. Fish were in the same area, but hard to stay with and not as aggressive. We wound up using some bait later in the morning while drifting in shallower water, as well. It was a tough day for everybody I talked to and saw on the water was having a tough time. My group were regular fishermen and understood the game. We had a good time and caught a fair amount of fish. Just not a day of pulling fish in the boat on a regular basis.

Fishing has not been consistent the past couple of days, but that is typical for this time of year. Fish have no real pattern to follow except for one place we find them every day on the flats. Patience is the name of the game on getting these guys. I have fished mainly bait the last 2 days but they seem to be liking slabs better than bait. You have to be ready to run and gun to stay on these schools. My next trip out will be mainly slabs (I hope) and we will see how it goes.

August 5, 2008
Out at daybreak this morning in an area where the fish had been coming up early. Not very impressive. Headed up farther North on the lake and the fish were on top in large numbers. Wasn't very hard to catch them on any chug bug you threw out. Like always, the nicer fish were beneath them and caught on different type slabs depending on the depth. Fish were caught in water from 70' in depth to 18'. Breeze stayed up so it didn't feel quite as hot as it has been. No bait today, but the bait boats were doing good.
Sun, Aug 3rd 2008, 16:46
Didn't fish this weekend. We had plans to go visit friends and family. From reports I got, fishing was not that good and it has been very hot! Posted a nice cool picture of the weekend in the photo section.

Today was pretty tough out there for everybody, including us. We did catch some nice fish and it was mostly on bait. Never got going real strong. 8 year old Blake Adams from OKC metro pulled in the biggest of the day that went about 6 pounds. He caught quite a few fish and they gave him all he wanted. Caught fish in water from 24 feet to 65 feet today. Started on bait and finished on topwater with not much slab action for us today. Fun trip with Mark and Blake Adams plus their friend Blake Mills.
Wed, Jul 30th 2008, 15:20
Had to sit out a thunderstorm this morning before getting on the water. The fish were not interested in artificials today! They wanted bait and I didn't have any. MY BAD. We managed to pull some fish but not nearly like the bait boats did. The rain sure changed things up from yesterday when you could have caught some on about anything. Fish are still in the same places, just a little pickier about what they were eating today. Back out on Friday and you can bet bait will be in the tank!

Topwater was absolutely crazy where we fished today. Fish stayed up in about a 3/4 mile area for over 20 minutes. These fish were only in 21 feet of water. When they went down we stayed with them another 45 minutes slabbing. Most of these were in 60 feet of water. The topwater fish were all keepers, but the slab fish were our biggest. Great morning on the lake!

July 26th, 2008. Took bait along with us today and should have just left it in the lake. Pulled a few small ones early on shad. Took me a little while to find where the fish had moved to from previous days and then the slabs went to work. Only saw the fish on top once today and they didn't stay up long. Ripping the slab up from the bottom was the real ticket for nice fish again today.

Today is July 24th, 2008. My site is just now coming up to full speed and I will try to keep some fishing reports on here for you to read.
I fished the last 2 days with top water lures and slabs only. Almost all fish were caught in deep water areas of 55 feet or lower. We did get up on acres of schoolies on the 23rd late morning in 20 feet of water. Caught them all on top water just as fast as you could get your lure back out. Fishing is very good right now.
